The Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Catalyst (IBIC) is hosting a Careers and Networking Fair for PhD students and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to showcase the wide range of career opportunities that are available. This will be held on Tuesday 3 February 2026 at The Manchester Institute of Biotechnology. There will be representatives from companies across the north-west, both within and associated with the biotechnology sector, and academics to speak to from the IBIC partner universities (University of Liverpool, University of Manchester, University of Salford, Liverpool John Moores University and Manchester Metropolitan University). The afternoon will include workshop sessions on skills, keynote speakers and panel sessions featuring industry leaders. There will be opportunities for you to network with peers from across the north-west, as well as industry collaborators and academics over lunch and in a dedicated networking session to close the event.

13:00-13:45- Lightning talks from Industry giving overview of career path
13:45-14:30- Career development – SOFT SKILLS workshop with Consilium
14:30-14:50- Refreshment break and Industry stalls
14:50-15.20- Skills need in industry panel discussion
15:20-16:00- Career development – HARD SKILLS workshop with Consilium skills are needed by ECRs to bridge industry
16:00-16:30- Focussed networking
16:30-17:15- Close and further networking opportunities/Career Path Walls
