The Keswick Fieldcourse is the first experience incoming first years have of Geography at Manchester and it allows the students to get to know each other even before their first lecture.

Students work in small group tackling a range of Physical and Human Geography projects in and around Keswick, learning a variety of fieldwork skills, finding out about the past and present Geography of the area and region, meeting and working with members of academic staff, and learning more about what they will undertake during their time at University.

It is a very successful trip and is one of the memorable moments of any Geography students’ time at University, and has been run in Keswick for over 50 years!
