Register to join us Online on Tuesday 27th September to celebrate the launch of the digital edition of the Mary Hamilton Papers.
The Unlocking the Mary Hamilton Papers project started in December 2019. It explores an almost untouched archive to answer important questions about reading, letter-writing and everyday language in Georgian England and the contribution made by social networks to these significant cultural practices.
For the past two and a half years, the Hamilton team have been reuniting historical documents related to Mary Hamilton from archives worldwide to create a scholarly digital edition, which is available via the Manchester Digital Collections website, for all to see. Letters and diaries have been transcribed, tagged and high-resolution images produced by the imaging team at the library.
