Join us at the coming seminar as Dr Jennifer Voorhees, NIHR Clinical Lecturer – UoM, will present a talk titled 'Understanding Access to General Practice'.
Summary
This presentation will summarise my PhD, which was a qualitative participatory case study of access to general practice. I will explain the previous gaps between the access literature, existing policy, and people’s experiences, which justify the approach taken. I explain my findings of a paradox of long-standing access problems in the UK, how the policy efforts during the time did not address these, and the role of practice size. I will present the advancement of access theory from this work.
I will conclude with a summary of future directions, including an NIHR Policy Research Programme project we are beginning, which looks at the impact of the Covid pandemic on access and health inequalities.
