Dr Sarit Shalev-Eyni joins us from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem to show what we can discover from the illuminations of the Hebrew manuscripts within The University of Manchester's Special Collections. She will consider the artists, publishers, collectors and readers, and will offer insight into everyday Jewish life.
By analysing several examples, she will demonstrate how the Manchester manuscripts complement our knowledge garnered from other major collections, and shed new light on the field of Hebrew book culture.
