The Optometry Teaching Clinic at the University of Manchester provides eyecare to thousands of patients every year. Examinations are carried out by final year students under the supervision of qualified clinical staff. Supervisors provide feedback to students during and after clinical sessions. Will Holmes has been a Clinical Supervisor for 14 years, was the Director of Clinics from 2013-2016 and is now the Director of Teaching and Learning for Pharmacy and Optometry. In this seminar he will share and discuss his reflections, informed by his completion of a PGCert in Medical Education, on giving effective feedback to students with relation to practical/clinical tasks.
The session will facilitate participants’ ability to:
Reflect on and analyse their current feedback practise
Apply evidence/theory based principles to their practise
