How can development practitioners help refugee- and migrant-led organisations implement practices, processes, and policies that make a real difference to the lives of migrants and refugees in different contexts? Join us to explore this issue at our next community of practice.

The online session will build on a lively discussion that took place during our first community of practice in December 2023, in which we identified some of the issues impacting the success of refugee- and migrant-led organisations. We also stressed the importance of recognising migrants and refugees as vital contributors and allies in building a sustainable. You can read more about the conversation in a recent blog by attendee and GDI alumna Pamela Hartley Pinto: https://blog.gdi.manchester.ac.uk/building-a-community-of-practice-lessons-in-migration-and-human-mobility-praxis/

In this session, we will discuss the “how” of addressing the needs identified in our previous conversation. For example, we will look at working collaboratively with partner organisations, strengthening the agency of refugees as active participants, systemising capacity, and elevating informal activities into powerful collective actions.

You do not need to have attended the initial session to join this session. We enthusiastically encourage new faces to join and bring new perspectives to the conversation. Over the coming months, we intend to host regular communities of practice to spark and develop inspiring conversations, ensuring the space remains open to new voices throughout. We’re also keen to break down barriers between academics and practitioners operating within the field, encouraging them to share stories and ideas that expand each other’s knowledge and horizons.
