Title: Galois distinguished l-modular representation of p-adic GL(n)
Abstract:
I will present some results on Galois distinguished l-modular representations of p-adic GL(n), with l not p, that is on l-modular representations which admit a linear form invariant by the fixed points subgroup of a Galois involution. This theory displays sharp contrasts to the well-studied case for complex representations. In particular, we will see (1) distinction of cuspidal representations is no longer characterised by the associated Asai L-function having a pole at 1, and (2) certain naturally defined local periods can vanish. This is joint work with Nadir Matringe and Vincent Sécherre.
