Title: Finite group actions on algebraic curves
Abstract: In this talk I will discuss how questions arising in classic (ordinary, modular or integral) representation theory, such as decomposing a representation into indecomposable summands or lifting an action from prime to zero characteristic, can be generalized to the context of algebraic geometry. I will present past and on-going work on finite groups actions on projective curves, on canonical rings or, more generally, on sheaf cohomology; every effort will be made to avoid geometric technicalities and to focus on algebraic techniques. Time permitting, I will discuss applications related to Green's syzygy conjecture, deformation theory, Galois modules and normal integral bases.
