Seminar title- Climate screening and risk assessment for Multilateral Development Banks
Abstract-
This presentation will review current approaches to physical climate risk assessment and its links to adaptation finance in several MDBs. It will briefly summarise the MDBs commitments to Climate Action in response to the Paris Agreement and then examine internal processes of screening projects and completing risk assessments to identify appropriate adaptation options. It will present a practitioner’s view of how MDBs are operating and highlight positive progress made by banks to mainstream climate change in their operations and align to initiatives such as the MDB Common Framework for Reporting Climate Finance, Task Force for Climate Related Financial Disclosures and EU Sustainable Finance Taxonomy. The talk will be of interest to social and environmental scientists working on climate change adaptation or international development projects and students interested in a career in environmental or management consultancy.
