The Manchester Institute of Innovation Research and the Department of Law are delighted to invite you to an afternoon event exploring challenges and opportunities for the North West in science diplomacy and international research collaboration, taking place at the Alliance Manchester Business School.
This event provides an opportunity to identify both challenges and opportunities for using science diplomacy as a mechanism to strengthen collaboration among European representatives in the region.
The event will explore ways to enhance relationships between academics, regional stakeholders and diplomats, and consider how these partnerships can serve as a catalyst for advancing international collaboration in science and beyond. Taking a place-based approach to science diplomacy, discussions will focus on how scientific cooperation shouldn't just happen in high-level meeting rooms and should also be rooted in the unique geographical, cultural, and socio-economic realities of a specific location.
The programme will feature presentations and panel discussions on EU–UK scientific collaboration, research funding and mobility, research security, and the role of science diplomacy in strengthening international partnerships across the region. There will also be opportunities for discussion, networking and engagement with academics, policymakers, diplomats and regional stakeholders.
