If you like your humour to be subtle and understated, then Hindemith’s ‘Minimax’ (subtitled ‘Repertoire for Military Orchestra for String Quartet’, written supposedly in response to his father’s draconian upbringing methods) may not be to your taste! In which case fear not: you can still enjoy the String Trio by the far nicer father of the Quatuor Danel’s cellist, Yovan Markovitch.
