National Science and Engineering Week is a 10 day programme of around 3,500 events running throughout the whole of the UK with the aim of celebrating science, engineering and technology and its importance in our lives. To celebrate National Science & Engineering Week the University is hosting a programme of fun and engaging activities which will enthuse pupils about studying Science. From Tuesday 15th – Thursday 17th March around 900 Y7 – Y9 school pupils from across the north-west will visit the University to find out more about Science and Engineering at the University of Manchester.
It consists of a hands-on Science Fair where pupils can interact with exciting displays and speak to academic staff and current students about their cutting-edge research will be held in Sackville Street Great Hall between 10.00am – 12.00pm over the three days. Pupils will also attend an interactive workshop delivered by current postgraduate students where they will get the chance to work in small groups designing a gadget to solve a contemporary scientific challenge! After lunch an expert lecture will be delivered by a member of academic staff followed by a Q&A session.
