Title: Finite simple quotients of mapping class groups
Abstract: In this talk we discuss how the Classification of Finite Simple Group can be used to determine which finite simple groups can and cannot occur as the quotient of the mapping class group of a surface of genus g > 2. This is joint work with Dawid Kielak.
