This free webinar is open to anyone with an interest in understanding and using data from the European Social Survey (ESS). Since 2002, the ESS has collected survey data on social attitudes across over 30 European nations using a consistent and high quality survey methodology. It can therefore be used to understand whether and how attitudes have changed over time and how they vary between countries. The data themselves are freely available and easy to use.
This joint webinar between NatCen Social Research and the UK Data Service will be presented by Alun Humphrey, UK National Coordinator for the ESS. It will demonstrate how to access and analyse the ESS data and will provide examples of how the data can be used and the benefits it can bring to your research.
The webinar will consist of a 40-minute presentation, followed by 20 minutes for questions.
Level: Introductory
Experience/knowledge required: A very basic knowledge of the ESS and using survey might be helpful but the webinar will demonstrate just how simple the data are to use.
Target audience: Anyone with an interest in using ESS data. This might include researchers in academia, government or the third sector, students and journalists.
