Introduction to survey design/Implementation of the National Health Survey in Indonesia - Dr Asri Maharani and Dr. Sri Idaiani

This session is being carried out as part of STAND-Indonesia; an NIHR funded global health research group on sustainable care for depression/anxiety in Indonesia.

Dr Asri Maharani is a Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Public Health at Manchester Metropolitan University. Dr. Sri Idaiani is a researcher from the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia.

Our project builds on strong partnerships between the University of Manchester, the University of Indonesia and Manchester Metropolitan University. It directly addresses two research priorities identified through collaboration with local Indonesian community groups. It is supported by the Indonesia Workforce Council at the Ministry of Health, and the Directors of Mental Health and Primary Care in Indonesia. Our group aims to improve health and productivity in Indonesia by increasing the availability and accessibility of evidence-based treatments for adults living with anxiety and depression.

Health surveys are important sources to measure health status, lifestyles, and their determinants in the population. They provide valuable information for policy, practice, and research purposes. This seminar event will focus on the practical aspects of health survey research by emphasising the development of skills to design and administer a survey questionnaire. It will cover the types of surveys in health research, constructing survey questions, administering questionnaires, and presenting results from a survey. The session is intended for researchers, public health practitioners, clinicians and other health care professionals who want to understand the processes involved in questionnaire design, application and interpretation.
