Learn all about the honeybee and the ancient craft of beekeeping in this hands-on taster day with a Master Beekeeper in the Jodrell Bank Arboretum.
On this popular one-day course you’ll learn how and where to set up a bee hive, discover what equipment is required, and gain practical experience of handling bees in a hive inspection*
You’ll be provided with all the protective clothing and equipment you need for the day and will have the chance to enjoy Jodrell Bank hospitality with morning refreshments and a delicious light lunch in the Planet Pavilion Cafe.
Itinerary:
Arrive 10am
10am: Classroom Session with morning tea and coffee
12:30pm: Light Lunch in the Planet Pavilion Café
13:45: Hands-on Apiary Session and hive inspection*
14:30: Trees for Bees Tour of Jodrell Bank Arboretum
15:30: Discovery Centre
Depart 16:00
- weather dependent – if it’s raining or too cold for the hive inspection, we’ll still head out into the gardens for our Trees for Bees tour of the arboretum. Bring your waterproofs and boots!
