This week (20 July - 25 July) is 'Bring a Plant to Work Week' at the Centre for Primary Care. All staff and students are being encouraged to bring to work any indoor plants/seeds, pots and compost they have going spare.
The benefits of having a potted plant in the office include:
• removing pollutants from the atmosphere
• giving out oxygen, and
• generally helping make a healthier and more pleasant working environment.
On Thursday, 23 July the Centre for Primary Care's Green Impact team are hosting a Green Offices and Gardening Tips lunch from 12:00 in the Library, 6th floor, Williamson Building.
This event will be attended by guests from local community gardening groups, including Hulme Community Garden Centre. Engaging with such groups and growing plants at home can help conserve, or even enhance, biodiversity in our local areas.
The invited guests will provide information on the groups they are involved in, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about planting/seeding and pruning. A planting session will follow, potting the plants and seeds that have been brought in to distribute across our offices.
Staff and students from other departments are very welcome to attend. Please bring your own lunch and any supplies you can for the planting session.
If you’re interested in attending this event, or would like more information, please email Rebecca Hays (Centre for Primary Care Green Impact Team Lead).
