This is a course on the FBMH Academic Development Programme, welcome to all colleagues within the Faculty.
How can we speak so that others want to listen? Maybe it is a formal or more familiar meeting - either in person or on screen, external or internal to the University - how can we be relevant and accessible to different audiences in a range of different contexts? How can we build rapport, engagement and influence, particularly when we don’t have positional authority? What you say matters, of course, but so does how you say it. If your communication style isn’t up to scratch, your message may be lost. Communication that is clear and compelling has a positive impact on the way audiences perceive both you and the institution.
Intended learning outcomes:
This lively and involving masterclass, delivered by VOX Coaching, will enable you to communicate confidently, authentically and compellingly to any listener or audience. We’ll explore in practice:
• Conveying complex information with clarity, authority and impact
• Creating rapport and building relationships
• Strengthening your physical and vocal presence
• Developing your understanding of personal status and hierarchies
• Flexing your communication style to suit a range of audiences and contexts
• Responding to questions and challenge in calm and structured ways
• Performing confidently under pressure - engaging and influencing others
• Understanding your authentic personal communication style
After this highly practical course, you’ll get access to a course summary, follow-up materials and the VOX Academy – an online repository of written guidance, lively videos and other resources to help you extend your learning and take your communication skills to the next level.
