Please join us for a roundtable discussion of some of the critical challenges facing the world today, from economic inequalities, over-consumption, migration, an ageing population, technology and work, gender, and pandemics. We will explore these issues - and more - and discuss how sociological perspectives can help us find a path through these challenges. The panel will be made up of expert authors for a forthcoming book, 'Global Social Challenges' currently under preparation by members of the department of Sociology at The University of Manchester (forthcoming 2026, Bristol University Press).
We will invite registered audience members to submit questions for the panel ahead of the event.
The event is also a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Department of Sociology, and accordingly, the roundtable discussion (3.30-5pm) will be followed by a drinks reception (5-7pm)
Register via Eventbrite for a free place. Please book your ticket by Friday 22 November 2024. If you have any questions, please contact sociologydepartmentuom@outlook.com.
