This talk considers the different 'cultural' approaches to compromise in ethics and law. It considers areas of ethical controversy such as euthanasia, abortion, and embryo experimentation and asks whether it is possible to reach a legal and practical compromise on these issues in order to solve the problem of legislating in these areas.
