The dark humour and weird logic of David Gaffney’s critically acclaimed Sawn-off Tales series meets the warped gothic fables of internationally exhibited contemporary visual artist Alison Erika Forde in this specially commissioned exhibition.
Alison creates her daydream-inspired paintings using imagined story-book snippets to produce misleading twists on reality, with a pinch of mischief and dark humour. As part of Manchester Literature Festival 2014, she has produced a set of paintings inspired by the short-short stories of David Gaffney.
The stories the paintings are based on are displayed near each of the works
Electronic duo O>L>A have composed music inspired by the text, the paintings, and the spaces in the Library, and the pieces can be heard by following the instructions on the accompanying flyer.
