About the event:
We have successfully obtained funding from the UMRI Pump Priming Programme to invite a group of scientists using proteomics and metabolomics to a workshop to try to form a cohesive and unified strategy to underpin challenges in this area. As the contact between metabolomics and proteomics fields at analytical and informatics levels is limited, the aim is to invite all the different groups in Manchester to a morning of talks to discuss what they do, what their workflows are, where the main challenges are. There will then be a series of talks from bioinformatics experts about their ideas, protocols and developments; ending with a discussion session over lunch intended to summarise the day and outline ways forward.
As part of the effort to increase synergy, a researcher will be embedded into each participating laboratory to gain more detailed information about workflows, strengths, weaknesses and to identify opportunities in their current workflows and software. We hope to achieve a stronger and more cohesive workflow for experimental design, data acquisition and analysis and to build stronger links between groups.
