This sessions is for sustainability, research (wet or dry labs) staff with an interest in addressing the growing environmental footprint of research activities. It aims to raise awareness of the footprint of digital research, mitigations and alignment with facilities and research.
The session will take place in person only at The University of Manchester campus. Please register for every ticket option that is relevant for you.
You are invited to our first Sustainable Digital Research session, hosted by The University of Manchester's Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the UK Network for Sustainable Research (UKNSR) (formally LEAN: Laboratory Efficiency Action Network) to support efforts towards the Concordat for the Environmental Sustainability of Research and Innovation Practice.
You will hear from Martin Farley, UKRI Associate Director of Sustainability and founder of LEAF, Loic Lannelongue, founder of the Green DiSC certification and leader in the field for sustainable digital research and Kirsty Pringle, Project Manager at The Software Sustainability Institute, University of Edinburgh.
Following their talks, we will break into a workshop to reflect on how to best approach improving the sustainability of Digital Research: identifying stakeholders, activities, engagement methods and aiming to develop common project/actions.
