Building a Model Universe
Dramatic progress has been made in the field of cosmology, the study of our Universe, over the past few decades. Using a wealth of available observational data, culminating with the latest results from the European Space Agency's Planck satellite, we now have a good idea of what our Universe is made of and how it has evolved from the Big Bang to the present day.
In this lecture, I will explain how we can build model universes in a supercomputer and how these results can be used to make predictions for the observed distribution of galaxies and clusters of galaxies.
