About the event:

MHS is bringing together expertise in engagement and involvement in this new Coordinating Centre. This launch event will showcase what the Coordinating Centre has achieved so far and explain what is planned for the future. We need your input to help highlight good practice and shape future plans, so anyone from MHS with an interest or experience in this area is encouraged to attend.

This event is also an important chance for you to highlight good practice and shape future plans, so anyone from MHS with an interest or experience in this area is encouraged to attend.

This event is open to all researchers and teaching staff in MHS who are actively engaging or involving the public, patients or carers in education or research.

It will involve a range of activities on the day to share good practice, develop case studies, resolve some of the difficulties and help set the agenda for the coordination centre.

Programme:

9:30-10am - Presentations from:

  • Professor Chris Cutts (MHS Associate Dean for Social Responsibility) to launch the Coordinating Centre
  • Dr John Baker (Academic Lead for PPI/E in MHS)
  • Dr Bella Starling (Director of Public Programmes, Nowgen)

10-12pm - Everyone to join four interactive sessions (30 mins each):

  • Collecting case studies:

To build up a database from people across MHS. We want to collect information and get feedback about the database.

  • Mapping:

To identify who is active across MHS in involvement and engagement and what initiatives are underway (eg. patient advisory groups that support research or teaching/learning.

  • Website:

To gather feedback on the initial version of the website and the resources already included and what else is needed.

  • Training:

To explore what training is available and what else is needed across MHS for students/staff/public/patients/carers.

  • Coffee and cake will be served at 11am
