The Behaviour Change Meeting Group at The University of Manchester has the purpose of bringing together academics and clinicians across several institutes who are working with behaviour change, intervention development and/or implementation theory. We usually meet online on the first Thursday of the month at 3pm, inviting external speakers and internal speakers to discuss and gain feedback on their latest research in the field. We have a range of health and clinical psychologists in the group as well as epidemiologists, nurses and physiotherapists who work with a range of different short-term and long-term conditions in different contexts (public, patient and healthcare professional groups).

If you would like to be added to the email list to hear about future meetings, please contact Rhiannon Hawkes: rhiannon.hawkes@manchester.ac.uk

Our next Behaviour Change Meeting will be held on Thursday 5th November 2026 at 3pm, where we have Dr Bethany Nichol from Newcastle University and Northumbria University presenting on ‘5 years of exploring the implementation and delivery of Making Every Contact Count: lessons learned’.

Beth is a behavioural scientist working part-time across Northumbria University and Newcastle University (Applied Research Collaboration). She has explored the implementation, delivery, and evaluation of Making Every Contact Count across multiple projects as part of the Newcastle MECC research group. More broadly, she is interested in preventing disease through behaviour change. She has experience applying various behaviour change theories, most notably the behaviour change wheel. Beth has a strong focus on making sure that all of her work is relevant to policy and practice, and thus has worked directly with practitioners, policymakers, and strategic leads to create impact.
