The University of Manchester Gateway Programme provides a new opportunity for Year 7-11 learners within Greater Manchester to participate in a coherent series of academic enrichment and Higher Education awareness activities.
The Y10 Exploration Visit is an opportunity for learners to realistically consider their future options, own identity and their preferences, skills and strengths. A ‘Researching Your Future Options’ workshop gives learners an introduction to the research process through thinking about their own options at age 16-18 and 18/19+ by exploring progression routes into careers and courses they are interested in. During the afternoon learners are given the opportunity to choose one of three workshops based in the Manchester Museum focussing on the theme of ‘identity’ in relation to biology, creative art or social sciences. At the end of the day learners take part in a Q&A session with current undergraduates to find out more about university life.
