Want to explore our library by joining our Cantonese Discovery Tour?
In celebration of International Mother Language Day 2026, we are running a Cantonese Library Discovery Tour for the first time. Our colleague from Hong Kong will deliver the tour in his mother tongue, Cantonese, allowing more people to learn about the library's history, its architecture, and how it reveals the history of Manchester, as well as the story of our founder, in their first language.
Meet in the Atrium on the ground floor
Don’t miss out on this chance to experience the library in a unique way and celebrate the richness of mother languages and multiculturalism in Manchester!
No booking required.
There is lift access to the spaces visited in the tour and folding seats at the entrance to each floor. Access information can be found on AccessAble https://www.accessable.co.uk/the-university-of-manchester/access-guides/john-rylands-research-institute-and-library
Please note, this event is not suitable for organised groups.
