The University of Manchester Gateway Programme provides a new opportunity for Year 7-11 learners within Greater Manchester to participate in a coherent series of academic enrichment and Higher Education awareness activities.
The Y11 Skills for Success Visit focuses on improving learners’ research and team-working skills through completing a group research enquiry into a topical issue. The learners will be given a brief introduction to note taking followed by a short interactive lecture on the topic for the day. Learners mix with pupils from other schools with the aim of creating and delivering a presentation about their research and findings. This task develops the learners’ communication and team-working skills and encourages them to learn from others’ experiences and expertise.
