The Behaviour Change Meeting Group at The University of Manchester has the purpose of bringing together academics and clinicians across several institutes who are working with behaviour change, intervention development and/or implementation theory. We usually meet online on the first Thursday of the month at 3pm, inviting external speakers and internal speakers to discuss and gain feedback on their latest research in the field. We have a range of health and clinical psychologists in the group as well as epidemiologists, nurses and physiotherapists who work with a range of different short-term and long-term conditions in different contexts (public, patient and healthcare professional groups).
If you would like to be added to the email list to hear about future meetings, please contact Rhiannon Hawkes: rhiannon.hawkes@manchester.ac.uk
Our next Behaviour Change Meeting will be held on Thursday 5th February 2026 at 3pm , where we have Dr Rebecca Turner presenting on ‘Health Psychology for Health Professions: Clinical practice change and supporting the use of Health Psychology by other professions’.
Dr Rebecca Turner is a Lecturer in Health Workforce within the Behavioural Science for International Health Workforce Group, Division of Medical Education, School of Medical Sciences at the University of Manchester. Rebecca’s expertise lies in behavioural science and health psychology, which she applies to understand and influence clinical practice. Her work specifically focuses on teaching, researching, and evaluating evidence-based approaches to the education and training of healthcare professionals, with the overarching aim of enhancing learning, improving patient care, and supporting sustainable behaviour change within the health workforce. Through this lens, she explores how behaviour change theory, and methods can inform effective, real-world interventions targeting the health workforce.
Rebecca has a particular interest in antimicrobial stewardship in hospital-based care. She uses behavioural approaches to design and evaluate such interventions including education, training, and audit and feedback to promote safe, effective, and sustainable prescribing practices.
