Our Shared Cultural Heritage Radical Reading Group in collaboration with DecoloniseUoM
The Radical Reading Group embraces the opportunity for young people to reflect on how they might approach decolonisation in radical new ways that move away from the way the concept is currently appropriated and used in cultural, academic and heritage spaces. We will discuss what young people might do to move towards critical and collaborative action that supports anti-colonial practices.
We are currently reading Beloved by the late American writer Toni Morrison, winner of the 1993 Nobel Prize in Literature.
We will be discussing the key points on Friday 26 June at 2pm online via Discord. Email decoloniseuom@gmail.com for more information on joining the online meetup. #kickthedust #OSCH #decoloniseuom.
The British Council ‘Our Shared Cultural Heritage’ initiative is part of the Heritage Lottery fund’s Kick the Dust programme. The aim if the project is to support young people in developing new skills, exploring their heritage and influencing museum programmes and heritage spaces.
