All science and engineering subjects have some practical teaching aspects. These elements have the opportunity to help students engage and understand the subject matter more than any other. This interactive workshop aims to disseminate current practice in this area and to discuss challenges faced by academics aiming to continuously improve their practice. A number of examples of innovative practices from a range of institutions will be presented throughout the day. The workshop will also involve hands-on focus group work, enabling individuals to discuss areas of best practice and compare approaches with different institutions.
Following on from the successful event in 2017, this event is aimed at anyone with an interest in improving their knowledge on practical teaching and thus improving student learning experience. Students (both undergraduate and postgraduate students involved in practical teaching) are welcome to provide an informed discussion on teaching effectiveness.
