Artist Kate Eggleston-Wirtz has been commissioned by Manchester Museum to create an ‘Insect Hotel’ in response to our Beauty and the Beasts: Falling in love with insects exhibition. Kate had originally been working in the exhibition space but when the museum closed in March, she had to relocate so has been finishing off the residency in her own artist's studio in Lytham St Annes.
Kate is an assemblage artist and for the Insect Hotel, has used collaging techniques, working with vintage materials and inspired by the insects in the exhibition, to transform an old grandfather clock into 5* accommodation for insects.
Join us for a virtual studio tour and artist's talk where Kate will speak about her practice. As well as finding out about her work on the Insect Hotel, Kate will also demonstrate some simple creative techniques to use on your own projects.
