Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre’s Girls Night Out is back with an evening of planetary wonder.
This one starts earlier in the evening than usual so that we can watch live as Mercury, the smallest planet in our solar system, crosses in front of the face of the Sun (weather permitting – if it’s cloudy we’ll stream live feed from somewhere else in the world).
There will be lots of other things to find out about Mercury (such as its crazy orbit, its extreme temperature swings), such as a talk NASA scientist Natalie Batalha, who uses transits like this one to detect planets around other stars. There will also be Mercury themed food and drink in the café.
