Visitors to Manchester Museum will have another opportunity to stick together broken pottery from excavations in Manchester. It is a little-known fact that when archaeologists were digging on the site of the Roman fort in Manchester during the 1970s they kept the Victorian and Edwardian pottery that they disturbed. This material is the archaeological equivalent of a jigsaw, except that some of the pieces are missing and we don’t have a picture on the outside of the box to help us. This hasn’t stopped previous visitors putting together teapots, mugs and chamber pots. Come along to the Dig Greater Manchester Festival of Archaeology Event. What will you stick back together? Adults, Free, Drop In
