The Rylands holds one of only two Greek copies of the important manuscript, the Gospel of Mary.
A papyrus which challenges the conventional Christian narrative that often marginalises women and instead provides a window to an early Christian world outside the New Testament, one in which Mary was understood as a prominent disciple with an important message.
