Hallé Youth Choir
The Hallé Youth Choir is a mixed-voice choir, founded in 2003, for singers aged 12-19 in and around Manchester. The Youth Choir offers young people from across the region the opportunity to sing stimulating repertoire to an extremely high standard. Under the direction of the Hallé's Youth Choir Director, Gregory Batsleer, members develop such skills as vocal technique and communication with an audience through lively rehearsals, masterclasses and chamber groups. The Youth Choir made its first solo tour in August 2010, travelling to Italy to give a series of performances in and around Venice and Verona, including a mass in St Mark’s Basilica, Venice.
Hallé Youth Orchestra
The Hallé Youth Orchestra is a symphony orchestra, which was founded in 2002 for talented young musicians across the North West of England who do not benefit from the musical opportunities provided by full-time specialist music education. Repertoire is the kind performed by professional orchestras. In previous years the Youth Orchestra have toured throughout Europe, visiting France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Summer 2010 saw the Youth Orchestra tour Tuscany, Italy, performing concerts throughout the region.
