Please join the CGP Research Cluster for Olivia Rutazibwa's "On the Ruins of Epistemicide. Decolonising International Solidarity through Blackness".
Dr Olivia Rutazibwa is a Senior Lecturer in International Development and European Studies at the University of Portsmouth. Olivia's research interests have focussed on the motivations and effects of western ethical foreign policy in the Global South. Olivia's work understands ethical foreign policy as policies that are explicitly designed around the well-being of the receiving societies cf. democracy promotion, development, good governance and humanitarian interventions, and specifically focusses on the EU’s policies in sub-Saharan Africa to understand the limited success and potential alternatives like autonomous recovery and genuine ownership beyond self-management.
