Join Policy@Manchester on Wednesday, 12 November for the first GM Policy Hub seminar of 2025/26 to discuss electric vehicles use in Greater Manchester.
Domestic transport is the UK’s largest source of emissions, accounting for 28% of the total, with 89% of this coming from road vehicles. While electric vehicles (EVs) are central to decarbonising transport and helping Greater Manchester achieve its ambition to be carbon zero by 2038, for many households, especially those without off-street parking or living in deprived areas, EV ownership remains unfeasible.
How can we support a fair and effective rollout of EV infrastructure across Greater Manchester? While expanding charging infrastructure is a necessary step, it is not sufficient.?What else can be done to increase EV use? How does this fit in with the broader public transport system across the city region?
Join Dr Helen Zheng?to hear about her research using geospatial analysis and agent-based simulations to identify priority areas for EV infrastructure in Greater Manchester (GM).
When:?Wednesday, 12 November, 1.00pm-2.30pm (with registration and light lunch from 12.30pm)
Where:?The University of Manchester (room confirmed on registration)
Speakers:
Dr Helen Zheng, Senior Lecturer in Spatial Planning, The University of Manchester?
Chaired by Professor Arpana Verma, Clinical Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology, and Academic Co-Director of ?Policy@Manchester?
Further speakers to be announced
