Lovorka Stojic (LS) received her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Zagreb (Croatia). LS obtained her PhD at the University of Zurich (Switzerland) in the laboratory of Josef Jiricny where she studied the role of DNA mismatch repair proteins in DNA damage signalling. After her PhD, she was awarded with an EMBO Long-Term Fellowship to work in Valerio Orlando’s laboratory (Italy) where she investigated how signalling pathways regulate chromatin-modifying enzymes and gene expression. For her second postdoc, LS moved to the CRUK Cambridge Institute (UK) where she worked with Adele Murrell, Fanni Gergely and Duncan Odom. During her second postdoc LS got fascinated by the long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and their role in cell division and decided to focus on RNA-based mechanisms (in particular lncRNAs) and how they regulate cell division and maintain genome stability in cancer. LS started her own group in October 2019 at the Barts Cancer Institute. In 2020, LS was awarded with the CRUK CEA and AMS Springboard Award.
