UKRI have recently announced Round 9 of the Future Leaders Fellowships. The scheme covers all research council remits and especially encourages applications from emerging research leaders who may have had unusual or varied careers: Future Leaders Fellowships Round 9

Institutions are expected to hold triage processes to select their best candidates – details of The University of Manchester’s internal triage process are here: Researcher Development | Funding Opportunities for Research Staff (manchester.ac.uk)

To ensure applications from the broadest spectrum of our research base, we would like to invite anyone within FBMH’s remit with an interest in applying to find out more at an information and Q&A session on Monday 12th February 1-2pm, via Zoom.

Please register for the session online

  • Please note that this session will be recorded and made available by request.

Mike White (Associate Dean for Talent Development and Fellowships) and Bruce Humphrey (Research Development Manager) will be running the session, providing insight into the FLF process and learnings from previous rounds.

Joe Firth (current UKRI Future Leaders Fellow) will also be giving a short presentation on his experiences as an Future Leaders Fellow.

For applicants wishing to progress an application, we will then be holding “Ideas Sessions” over the few weeks following the event, where individuals can pitch their fellowship plans to Mike White, a Research Development Manager, and additional academics as appropriate to your subject area. You will receive personal feedback on how you may want to shape your ideas for the scheme, or other relevant opportunities. Details on these sessions will be circulated via announcements following the Q&A session.

EoI deadline for FBMH triage: 4pm on Thursday 29th February 2024

  • Please note, if you need advice ahead of these Q&A and Ideas Sessions, please contact bruce.humphrey@manchester.ac.uk and FBMHfellowshipacademy@manchester.ac.uk
