‘Engaging, illuminating and ultimately uplifting, Another England opens the path to a renewed country with real reasons to be proud of itself.’ Fintan O’Toole
Caroline Lucas, former leader of the Green Party, looks at the elements that make us English – our beautiful countryside, our literature, our sense of solidarity and fairness. In her fascinating new book Another England: How to Reclaim Our National Story, she asks what Englishness could or should be and whether it’s possible for the UK to tell a new, more nuanced story of who we are.
Caroline was the UK’s first Green Party MP. She was party leader from 2008 to 2012, and co-leader from 2016 to 2018. She has a PhD in English Literature from the University of Exeter. Presented by Manchester Literature Festival in partnership with the Centre for New Writing and Creative Manchester.
