Giles Waterfield will talk about the development of art galleries and exhibitions in Britain during the long nineteenth century, with especial emphasis on Victorian Manchester. Giles's book 'The People's Galleries. Art Museums and Exhibitions in Britain, 1800–1914' was published by Yale University Press, 2015.
