The dynamics of populism run deep, and are maybe now driving the ‘world order’ to the edge of chaos. The previous mindset of strategic planning and evidence-based policy may struggle… with big implications for the social sciences... This session starts with Yanuar’s story – “working closely with the government of a transitioning country started when Indonesia was (yes, past tense) democratic, upholding meritocracy, then entering the turning point when democracy was backsliding .. until today, when we are experiencing 'another Trump' in Indonesia. I decided to leave public office december 2024, going back to civil society, working with many groups trying to fight for democracy…” Can a new approach - a) overcome the populists – (b) build new bridges – or © create new forms of shared intelligence? To explore this we use new methods from the Foresight-CHAI ('collective human-artificial intelligence') toolkit – harnessing AI to enable humans to get their act together.
