Discussing, visualising, and redesigning public spaces in Stretford with young people.
As part of Bruntwood’s Stretford development, we want to hear from young people to help us think creatively about the co-design and co-creation of public spaces in Stretford, from utopian ideas like helter-skelters in parks to practical ideas like improved lighting.
In addition to creativity, we want to ensure place and inclusivity are also at the forefront of these new public spaces and to speak with those who are too often excluded from conversations about public space. That’s why we especially want to hear from young women and girls who live and/or work in Stretford, in our effort to combat marginalisation that has been evidenced in data and research from both #BeeWell and Bruntwood.
If you would like to be involved in the creation of these new public spaces and to help redefine and redesign Stretford, then please register for this event so we can do so together.
The Placeholders project is a research initiative partnership between Bruntwood and Creative Manchester. The project aims to create, test, and refine a process for engaging young people in town-centre place-making, with a particular focus on public spaces, sense of ownership, and the barriers and opportunities in place for young women and girls. Specifically, we are looking at place-making in relation to Bruntwood’s development plans for Stretford Mall.
