This workshop introduces one of the most widely used methodologies in Arts and Humanities research. Postcolonial Theory is here intended as a methodology of both resistance and intervention that facilitates an interdisciplinary dialogue between history, sociology, geography, politics and religion and as well as literature. In addition to providing some practical uses of postcolonial theory for research, the workshop will offer a discussion of newly emerging areas such as Italian Postcolonial Studies in dialogue with dominant Anglophone/Francophone theory.
The workshop begins by asking participants to engage in a discussion about the interdisciplinary character of Postcolonial Studies. The workshop will close by asking participants to relate methods for studying postcolonial theory to their own research practice.
