Are you affected by recent cuts in public services? Are they worsening your standard of living or the quality of your life? Or have you found new ways of taking control of things in your community to make things better? Can you convey what these recent changes mean to you in a single image? If so we invite you to enter our Austerity Greater Manchester Instagram photography competition.
We hope to build up a picture of how austerity measures are working out across Greater Manchester. We know that the cuts in public services are hitting some more badly than others as shown by the growing use of foodbanks across all districts of Greater Manchester. Local authorities are having their funding cut and this is impacting on their ability to deliver services. This is leading to changes for better and for worse, for instance as libraries or leisure facilities are closed or transferred over to communities or private companies. cities@manchester welcomes photographs, via Instagram, from any area within Greater Manchester, that help illustrate how these changes are affecting individuals, friends, families or communities.
For further details, including how to enter and the full terms and conditions, please see http://www.cities.manchester.ac.uk/events/competitions/austerity/
Closing date: 20 June 2014
