As practitioners, we are often required professionally to reflect on our practice to facilitate our own learning and development. In teaching and learning, we are encouraged to engage and develop as reflective educators; we also support learners to develop the skills they need to emerge as reflective practitioners.
This session will support participants to explore and consider their perceptions and understanding of reflection as both practitioner and educator. It will offer opportunity to share and challenge current beliefs and practices, and will provide a forum to identify current activities and developments across the faculty to support the development of reflective practice.
The session will be delivered in partnership with academic and e-learning colleagues and will capture the voice of the learner in its delivery.
Delegates will leave with the understanding on how to:
To support participants to identify what they understand by the term ‘reflection’ as a practitioner, an educator and an individual.
To identify the theoretical underpinnings for reflection.
To examine the skills that are needed to be an effective reflective practitioner.
To challenge and explore opportunities to support and develop students as effective reflective practitioners.
To consider the value of technology to facilitate reflective practice.
To share and explore current developments to facilitate reflection from across the faculty; supporting students to develop as reflective practitioners.
