This Venture Building Workshop will equip you with the skills necessary to build a million-pound company, enhance your business acumen, and recognise opportunities in your daily life. Simon aims to share his journey and will draw from his experience of establishing three companies that have reached up to 5 million in value. He firmly rejects the idea that all entrepreneurs are born and not made, and will give you the confidence and skills set to conquer the fear of venturing into the unknown.
Simon is a successful entrepreneur who is deeply passionate about business and business education. He strives to bridge the gap between business academia and practical business operations by sharing insights and reflections from his dual roles as an academic and an active business owner. His journey began in sales at Nissan, where he discovered a passion for selling. Despite lacking business knowledge initially, he possessed a strong results-driven mindset and a knack for introspection. Over time, his business acumen grew as he transitioned to a tool manufacturer in Sheffield, eventually leading to the creation of Electro Group, a B2B hand tool distributor. In 2000, he founded Buybrandtools, an online tool company, after recognizing the potential of e-commerce. Today, it stands as one of the top 10 online tool retailers in the UK, offering premium brand tools like Bahco and Rubi. Additionally, he established Connell of Sheffield, a company manufacturing products from various materials originally targeting the hand tool market, completing my portfolio of hand tool companies.
